Enjoy great fishing in NW Ontario, Canada with Gateway North Outfitters on a fly-in fishing trip. We offer 9 remote outposts all at different locations, with 8 of the 9 being the only cabins on the lake. The lakes are all 35-70 miles from our floatplane base on Off Lake near Emo, Ontario. It is just a short 1 hour drive from the US border. Once you depart on our Beech 18 floatplane, the cabins are a quick 20-30 minute floatplane ride to the location of your choice. Depending on which lake you picked, you can enjoy fishing for walleye, smallmouth bass, northern pike, lake trout, and muskie. The fishing is excellent all season long. With limited fishing pressure and guests just eating fish while at the lakes, the fishing continues to be great. Our area is excellent for multi species fishing. You will enjoy catching at least 3 different species at any of the lakes you may pick and a couple lakes offer 4 species. On a fly-in fishing trip you can fish all day, or take it as easy you want and relax. The schedule is completely up to you. Walleye and smallmouth bass are the primary target species of most anglers. These fish are caught in great numbers and size depending on which remote fly in outpost cabin you choose for you vacation. The walleye fishing is best when using live bait and fishing with jigs or Lindy rigs tipped with live bait and a slow presentation. A few marker buoys ca be very helpful when fishing for walleye to mark where you caught them, so you can focus on that area more, especially if fishing mid lake humps and reefs or weed lines. Walleye school on the reefs and mid lake humps and in the cabbage weeds during the summer months. The smallmouth bass can be caught on many different artificial baits, form top water plugs, crank bait, and soft plastic swimbaits. The smallmouth bass congregate around the fast moving water, boulder pile, and mid lake reefs during the summer. Lots of smaller bass are caught shallow along the shoreline, the bigger fish are usually in deeper water. The smallmouth bass is noted as one of the strongest fighting fresh water fish and are very popular with our guest.
