Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 8/10-8/15/2025

Group Name:  Burroughs

Guest Comments:  Fishing a bit more challenging this trip as the wind was a bit brisk for four of the five days…no problem getting anywhere, just a fair amount of spray. Walleye were not as widespread as last trip but the smallmouth more than made up for it. Pike caught throughout the lake, mostly off the weedbeds. Best morning was spent down below Trapper’s Cabin where we landed over 30 fish and lost almost as many. Fishing at both Falls (north end) was decent though getting through the weeds was challenging. Nicole, Lucas, Trevor and Hunter continue to make these trips a real pleasure. I’m certain we will return again and again. Thank you, again, for another outstanding adventure!

Lake: Jones Lake

Dates: 8/10-8/15/2025

Group Name:  Steffens

Guest Comments:  Another great trip to Jones Lake.  Cabin and boats were good as usual. We caught lots of smallmouth bass, largest was 21.5".  Lots of pike up to 35".  Very good walleye with largest close to 25".  Wind blew hard for a few days making it harder to fish some spots, fished lots in the river and protected areas of the lake.  Did make our way down to lower falls on Eltrut one day. We will be back in 2027!

Lake: Sakwite Lake

Dates: 8/9-8/15/2025

Lake: Eric Lake

Dates: 8/9-8/13/2025

Group Name:  Cross

Lake: Jones Lake

Dates: 8/3-8/10/2025

Group Name:  Greaney

Guest Comments:  Another good trip.  Caught lots of smallmouth, largest being a few that went 6# on the scale.  Very good numbers of walleye, largest up to 26".  All the equipment worked well.

Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 8/5-8/10/2025

Group Name:  Franzen

Guest Comments:

Fishing started out a bit slower than usual but picked up by the end of the week.  We struggled catching walleye small enough to eat. We fished for Trout for the first time and enjoyed both catching and eating them.   Will definitely spend more time fishing trout in future trips. Another great trip with Gateway North!  Next year will be our 25th year, and we are looking forward to it as we will take advantage of Nicole's policy of the 25th year being free. Thanks for a great trip.

Lake: Sakwite Lake

Dates: 8/4-8/9/2025

Group Name:  Davis

Guest Comments:

It was our first fly in fishing trip and Sakwite Lake did not disappoint. Caught all four fish and even a bonus. Caught northern and bass mostly trolling. Biggest northern only 29.5 inches but lots of good eaters. Biggest bass was 18.5 inches.

Got into the walleye trolling with bottom bouncers and worms on rock points around the lake. Biggest one was 26.5 inches. Lake trout were all caught in the widest part of the north arm with bottom bouncers and worms just drifting with the wind in 30-50ft of water. Biggest was 26.5 inches. Even caught three crappie on the first day!

Lucas and Nicole were extremely hospitable and we are already trying to plan our next trip with Gateway North Outfitters!

Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 7/31-8/5/2025

Group Name:  Makens

Guest Comments:  Six Texans fishing for Walleye, what’s a walleye?  We found the smallmouth bass in the river all the way up to the falls. They hit on plastics, spinners, top water (with propellers) and live worms. We also found them in the shallows and grass along with lots of pike.  Our largest small was 22 1/2”.  Early morning was the best time for smalls.  We caught our largest below the falls against the rock wall  south of the falls. The trout were plentiful in the deeper water 110 to 160’, trolled with 3-4” deep diving baits with 150’ -200’ of line and trolled at 2.5 to 3.5 mph (the lowest speed of the boats are about 2.5 mph). Our largest laker was 26 1/2”.  Pike were fun at first but that got old fast.  We left still wondering what a Walleye fights like.

Lake: Kinewan Lake

Dates: 7/26-8/2/2025

Group Name:  Topham

Guest Comments:  Kinewan 2025.   Fishing was very good once again.  Caught all sizes of walleye pretty much all over the lake.  Several pike and smallmouth also.   Cabin was well equipped and everything ran perfect as always.  Flights were smooth and right on time.  Booked for 2026!   Thank you to everyone for all you do !!!

Lake: Dogfly Lake

Dates: 7/26-8/2/2025

Group Name:  Williams

Guest Comments:  Excellent week with family of four at Dogfly! This lake is very bassy. We caught hundreds of bass of all sizes on mepps, spoons, baby brush hogs on a TX rig, and crawfish plastics jigged along the bottom. Topwater fishing in the late evening was a ton of fun as the bass would get really aggressive while beaver and mink gamboled in the gloaming. Every day we had great bass fishing off of rocky shores and sometimes unexpectedly deeper. We didn't troll a lot but when we did we caught a 32 inch pike and a 25 inch lake trout on diver lures --  at around 30 - 40 ft deep. We caught nice size pike in grassy or cove areas where you would expect them to lurk. We never got tired of the combative bass and this beautiful, clear lake.

Lake: Highrock Lake

Dates: 7/25-7/30/2025

Group Name:  Richter

Guest Comments:  Cabin was great.  Very spacious and comfortable for our group.  We had a great time.  Caught plenty of fish and will be in contact.

Lake: Eric Lake

Dates: 7/22-7/28/2025

Guest Comments:  Cabin and facilities were very comfortable.  Fishing was very good.  We had a great time and enjoyed our first visit.

Lake: Jones Lake

Dates: 7/23-7/27/2025

Group Name:  Trujillo

Guest Comments:  Great trip to Jones as always.  Fishing was very good and consistent for walleye and pike, caught smallmouth but did not really target them.  Walleye up to 27" and a thick 40+" pike.  We will back again next year.

Lake: Kinewan Lake

Dates: 7/19-7/26/2025

Group Name:  Williams

Guest Comments:  Six guys had a great week on Kinewan. Lots of pike, walleye and bass in that order. Lower Kinewan was especially good, including the pool below the waterfall at the outlet of lower Kinewan. Biggest fish were 34, 35, and 36.5 inch pike, 25 inch walleye and multiple 19 and 20 inch bass. And a 9 inch perch! Hot lures were mepps 2s, 3s, 4s, and 5s, rattle traps, spoons and Ned rigs (lots of walleyes on them), and super spook jrs. and tiny torpedos on top at night. Chartreuse and yellow were good colors. Caught walleye on topwater at night. Fly fishing was great with big articulated white streamers called Goldie’s catching everything, including big perch. We reduced the rodent population at the cabin. Impressive toad and frog population around the cabin at night helps keep the bugs down. Fish scraps keep the eagles and snapping turtles fed. Find the weed beds, find the fish. Lucas, Nicole, Hunter and Trevor do a great job.

Lake: Sakwite Lake

Dates: 7/19-7/25/2025

Group Name:  Moore

Guest Comments:  Great time away being disconnected.  Fishing was excellent for pike and smallmouth.  Caught bass up to 19", lots of action in moving water.  Several lake trout in the North arm and they were excellent eating.   Cabin was perfect for our stay.

Lake: Jones Lake

Dates: 7/18-7/23/2025

Group Name:  Malcolm

Guest Comments:  We caught a lot of smallmouth bass.  Enough walleye under 18" for 2 fish fries, and more pike than you could count.  Fun trip.

Lake: Eric Lake

Dates: 7/18-7/22/2025

Group Name:  Kirkpatrick

Guest Comments:  Another great trip to Eric Lake.  Caught lots of walleye, pike, and smallmouth.  Fishing was excellent but fewer numbers than our last stay.  Cabin and grounds was perfect for our group and was very comfortable.  Great service and flights!

Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 7/15-7/20/2025

Group Name:  Vuckson

Guest Comments:  Our first trip to Trout Lake.  Very large lake with lots of exploring available.  We caught lots of lake trout, they were easily caught while trolling break lines.  The smallmouth were fat and feisty.  The cabin was the nicest we have stayed in and really enjoyed the layout and amenities.

Lake: Eric Lake

Dates: 7/13-7/18/2025

Group Name:  Haschke

Guest Comments:  Fishing was awesome!  We caught plenty of walleyes.  We also caught the biggest northern pike in our life.  We will be back.  Look for northern where ever there is weeds.  Walleyes were at 10-15'.  This lake also offers world class smallmouth  fishing.  Our largest was 21".  Last year we caught a 22.5".  Again, we will be back!

Lake: Grant Lake

Dates: 7/10-7/15/2025

Group Name:  Hartley

Guest Comments:  Another great trip to Grant Lake.  Had 3 slams in 5 days catching all species, smallmouth bass, pike, lake trout, and 5 muskie, with 2 being caught on top water including our largest at 39".  Grass beds and rocky points were very good.  We did not fish the portage lake as fishing on Grant was so good, we did not find a reason to go there.

Lake: Eric Lake

Dates: 7/10-7/13/2025

Group Name:  Gullberg

Guest Comments:  The fishing at Eric Lake was special. It is a walleye factory. We fished for 3 days and caught well over 200 fish. The walleye were from 15-18 inches, and caught between 10-13 feet. No big ones, but great eating fish. We caught fish everywhere we dropped a bait. We used minnows only. We caught many Smallies, but were not hunting for them particularly. Pike were plentiful as well, but all small in the 2-5 pound range. If we had time, we would have started fishing deeper from 13-20 feet, but time was short for us. Couldn't have asked for a better trip, as my daughter was on her first outpost trip. The facility was top notch. Thank you.

Lake: Fiashtrap Lake

Dates: 7/8-7/13/2025

Group Name:  Ramsey

Guest Comments:  fishing was slower this year vs 2021 in August for some reason. We still caught all 3 species but had to work at em.

bass was shallow out to 8’ or so. Top water in grass/vegetation, crank baits, and soft baits jigged. I also had luck with a spinner bait.

pike were in grass beds/vegetation mostly on top water and spinnerbaits.

walleye were random on crank baits and spinnerbaits but mostly on soft baits with leaches or night crawlers in 8-10’ of water jigging.

we fished ~7-1pm and then ~5-dark in main lakes (high rock and fishtrap) and portage to upper high rock.

Lake: Eric Lake

Dates: 7/3-7/10/2025

Group Name:  Pritts

Guest Comments:  Great trip to Eric Lake!  Cabin was very nice and comfortable.  Caught plenty of fish.  23" smallmouth bass and several others over 20".  Biggest walleye was 22", lots of pike!  Lucas, Nicole, Hunter, and Trevor are first class.  Great experience!

Lake: Jones Lake

Dates: 7/3-7/8/2025

Group Name:  Werner

Guest Comments:  We caught plenty of everything (walleye, smallmouth, and northerns). Smallmouth and northern in and along weed beds using almost anything (top waters, Mepps, swim baits, etc.). Walleye were in cabbage caught with Mepps #5 and in deeper water and edges of shelves with lindy rigs with crawlers and leeches. Walleye at top of South falls. Smallmouth and northern in rapids/eddies at both falls.

Lake: Kinewan Lake

Dates: 6/29-7/4/2025

Group Name:  Heeke

Guest Comments:  26" walleye and and many others  East of the cabin around the point to the South.  Several 17-18" smallmouth bass.  Fished with leeches, pulled with a green jig head.  Caught a lot of smallmouth and walleye in the outflow lake, right at the rapids and the bottleneck.  Walleye and smallmouth on point NE of cabin.

Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 6/27-7/4/2025

Group Name:  Castle

Guest Comments:  Group had a great time.  Cabin set up was great.  Everything you need was there and more.  Fishing wasn't red hot but we were new to this lake.  Beautiful lake though that would take years to see.  Biggest bass was 20", Walleye 24.5", Pike 38" and quite a few trout some targeted, some by accident.  Walleye were very finicky, but the smallies we caught were consistently of good size, fat and feisty.  Lucas and Nicole made sure everything ran smoothly and when we had one issue with a motor Hunter was there literally within minutes to get it taken care of.

Lake: Sakwite Lake

Dates: 6/28-7/4/2025

Group Name:  Guerndt

Guest Comments:  Accommodations were great.  We had everything we needed.  We caught tons of 15-18" smallmouth bass.  Walleye were more spotty but caught eaters and a few 24" and a 26".  Very fun trip.

Lake: Kinewan Lake

Dates: 6/24-6/29/2025

Group Name:  Tong

Guest Comments:  We are at Kinewan during the last week in June. The fishing was pretty good. Walleye were caught in 10-12 foot of water on leeches and lindy rigs. We also caught some walleye trolling with deeper diving jerk baits. I had a depth finder, and nearly all the walleye were between 8-14 feet of water. We could have caught 10-15 walleye per day per person if we decided to fish them hard. As for smallmouth, the bite was a little slower. Rocky areas next to deep water seemed to hold some fish. In the evenings the topwater bite was good for smallmouth and pike. The upper lake near the inflow was an evening hotspot. Lots of pike and smallmouth caught in and around the weeds on topwater, small plastics Texas rigged, and jerk baits.

Lake: Eric Lake

Dates: 6/25-6/29/2025

Group Name:  Aaberg

Guest Comments:  Another great trip with GNO.  Plenty of walleye caught with plenty of eaters.  50-100 fish per day per boat.  Largest walleye was 22.5".  Largest northern was 35".  Largest smallmouth was 19.5".  Great weather and always fantastic customer service.  We will be back, already booked for next year!

Lake: Sakwite Lake

Dates: 6/21-6/28/2025

Group Name:  Bullington

Guest Comments:  Smallmouth on fire everywhere. Several 18 and 19" - hundreds of smallmouth in the 13-16" range and all were super fat.  Walleye good trolling and casting close to shore.  We will be back next year!

Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 6/23-6/27/2025

Group Name:  Devoe

Guest Comments:  This was our third trip with GNO, but our first to Trout Lake. It was another great trip and Lucas made sure to put us on fish. We mostly targeted trout and walleye. Four of the seven of us completed the slam (catching a trout, walleye, bass, and pike), two had super slams (all four species in one day), and one had the super duper slam (a slam with two perch and a rock bass to boot). The big fish for the trip were: pike - 32", walleye - 26", trout - 25", bass - 20", perch - 11", and rock bass - 7". Another highlight of the trip was watching a small pike completely clear the water launching itself after a topwater lure.  The double-blackened walleye fish tacos on the Blackstone were fantastic and the group enjoyed watching the pet bald eagles and sunsets from the dock. As with every other trip, Lucas, Nicole, Trevor, and Hunter did a fantastic job taking care of their guests including flying in some of our gear accidentally left behind in camp.

Lake: Grant Lake

Dates: 6/20-6/27/2025

Group Name:  Roseberry

Guest Comments:  Weather created choppy conditions for the first couple of days.  After that, weather was nice and clear.  Fishing was tough.  The bigger smallmouth were deeper and were caught using wacky worms and Mepps #5.  We did enjoy the top water fishing closer to the banks, but fewer were caught.  the largest pike was a 35" that was caught while trolling.  A nice muskie was caught over a weed bed with top water.  It was likely around 45".

Lake: Highrock Lake

Dates: 6/19-6/23/2025

Group Name:  Borken

Guest Comments:  We had a great time disconnecting for a few days.  It was our first time on the lake so it took a  couple days to get orientated and figure it out.  Caught some very good smallmouth each day.  Best smallmouth fishing was casting close to shore with plastics.  Walleye were spotty and inconsistent but we ate well.  Cabin was very nice and well equipped.

Guest Comments:  Smallmouth was amazing.  We tore them up!  Top water bite all week/all day!  Walleyes on leeches at the falls.  Whole lake was good.  Biggest fish at North falls.  Biggest pike 36", had one at least 40" follow at the falls but wouldn't bite

Lake: Jones Lake

Dates: 6/16-6/21/2025

Guest Comments:  Walleye, pike, and bass around rock reefs and along edge of weed beds.  Walleye could be caught consistently on the bottom in 5 to 15 feet of water, but on cloudy days we caught several Walleye on spinner baits and other surface or near surface baits.  Many bass caught bigger than 19 inch.  Many pike caught over 30.  Biggest was 37 inches.  Lots of eater Walleye caught, and several over 20" caught using pink mister twisters, worms, and gulp minnows.  Fantastic trip at a great lake!

Lake: Grant Lake

Dates: 6/15-6/20/2025

Guest Comments: Lots of pike in the 30-37" range.  Follows and figure eights worked great.   3 smallies 18"    1 - 30" spotted muskie  Napanee Lake (portage lake) was most productive.  Best lures  - Heddon Torpedo imitating dragon flies.  Anything with a propellor.  Most pike in 12-20' of water.  Spoons were great, five of diamonds, red eye, fire tiger color.  Fishing was exactly as advertised, no action jigging.

Lake: Highrock Lake

Dates: 6/14-6/19/2025

Group Name:  Videen

Guest Comments:  This past week marked another great annual trip to Canada with three generations of our family. The accommodations were amazing, providing us with all the comforts we could ask for. The sunsets were breathtaking, painting the sky with vibrant colors each evening.

While we did face some challenges with fishing due to a mayfly hatch, we still managed to catch fish and had an incredible time. The warm weather on a couple of days allowed us to swim right from the dock, which was a delightful experience. We were thrilled with our catches, including a 26" walleye, a 20" smallmouth bass, and a 38.5" northern pike.

A special shoutout to Lucas and Nicole, who always go the extra mile to ensure our trips are memorable. Their dedication and attention to detail truly make a difference.

We can't wait for our next adventure in Canada!

Lake: Trout Lake

Dates: 6/13-6/19/2025

Guest Comments: Trout was truth in advertising.  Trout were absolutely everywhere, deep, shallow, in between hitting lures, bait, and almost a bare hook.  Small jaws off the chart which is typical for Trout.  Unmatchable numbers in the river.  Walleyes were slow and spotty.  Pike were thick in marshy bays.  Biggest smallie 20", pike 33", trout 27.5", and walleye 25".  And a bonus 10" perch and a huge whitefish.  Many thanks to Lucas, Nicole, Hunter, and Trevor.  And we pound one out for Trouble.  We miss you buddy!  Avoid Gomberg hole!!!

Guest Comments:  First trip to Trout Lake.  Fantastic!!  Tons of water to fish…. We were so blessed with great weather.  New Blackstone was a huge hit.  Bass fishing was so much fun.  Found them on rocks and reefs in shallow water.  What’s better than slaying Smalley’s on topwater???  Northern everywhere and more than enough Walleye to eat.  Biggest fish:  Bass, multiple 20 inchers (and tons in the 17-19 inch range).  26” Walleye and 37” Pike were the biggest we caught.  Sunset from the cabin was breathtaking!!!  Already booked next year!!  Thank you Trevor, Hunter, Lucas and Nicole!!!

Guest Comments:  Needed minnows for walleye.  Walleye only in specific spots.  Trolling did not work for walleye or bass.  Bass were good sized, lots of 16-19", but not in big quantities.  Bass only caught on top water lures.  Lots of small pike in the bays.  Smaller spoons worked well.
